7/17/02 07:28 AM Hey I"m gonna be on MTV... Hey everybody, Well it seems good things do sometimes happen to good people... last week I signed an agreement for my music to be used on MTVs Real World.. The producers of the show loved my music and had me signed up in 3 days after recieving cd copies of some 29 tunes. March 3, 2002... On the spot review: As I am sitting here, reformatting this page to allow for a longer NAVbar, I happen to have the CD of "To Exist As A Shell" playing. I have been trying to work as many hours as possible at a time to finish this site. The only tension I have is in my shoulders from 10-12 hours at time at the computer. As the first song of the CD dances forth with a nice exotic rhythm, I already feel like I am floating blissfully in a nice pond under a waterfall. The sun dapples on the water as the playful melody dances over the perfectly set musical bed. Tony has a wonderful creative style in that he knows just how much of each element to use to set his refreshing and unique melodies off with total polish! Each of them on this CD are like paintings in a museum to me. His arrangements are just as an artist is with his brush. Just the right amount of one color, oh perhaps just a dab of a lighter color as a highlight, but the perfect amount. I have yet to hear any of his electronica songs even approach "overproduced", as some artists in this genre are apt to do. He is also one of the few composers I have heard to make a beautiful song from the unusually temperamental Locrian mode. So smooth, that the first time I heard it, I truly didn't believe he did that, and sooo well!! I feel very honored, not just for being able to hear this beautiful CD right now, when I need to the most... but to have such a creative and talented person as a long time friend. I HIGHLY recommend this CD for everyone, even if they dont particularly care for electronica... "To Exist As A Shell" just may surprise you!! |
I am thrilled to feature the exceptional website of someone I have known for a long time. Tony has created a wonderful array of CDs showcasing his variety of styles, and I am proud to say that I have some of them, and I will not rest until I have them all, and any future releases! The site is well arranged, easy to navigate and fun to explore! |
This also illuminated for me that thanks to my own course of study in college, that I was seriously out of touch with the entire local music scene! I didn't have a chance to catch any of his shows, but I was kept apprised by Tina, and many other friends as well. In recent years, Tony's style evolved into the Electronica genre. We sporadically kept in touch in the 90s, and he produced one of my own songs... actually, until he and I worked together on "Bad Blood", it was just a cool jam in my head! I am very grateful to him for guest-producing this song, and someday I will rerecord the track. We met back up again at our high school reunion, and he gave me two tapes. I enjoy them both. One of them, "To Exist As A Shell" became one of my favorite works to relax and chill to. I really felt that Tony's work on this particular recording rivals and even tops some of today's most talented signed artists. In time, he released "One Swell Foop" and started his record company. He continues releasing new, original and exciting works, as well as compilations of his other bands and styles. I am proud to feature my long-time friend and fellow musician Tony Stoufer and his website, as the first featured website on this directory. I hold two official "jukey" lighters in the air as I cheer him on to even more future successes! WAY TO GO... TONY STOUFER!! |
Tony's music has evolved in many exciting directions over the time I have known him. For many years, he played a lot of blistering rock and roll, and during the 80s, he had several successful "Top 40s" bands, and enjoyed large crowds at several venues throughout the county and state. |

I was thoroughly surprised one day at a friend and fellow musician's house, when her teen-aged daughter kept raving about a show she saw featuring "TonyLonely". In fact, she went on and on, and finally pulled out two envelopes full of pictures. Imagine my total shock when I looked at the first photo, and saw somebody I have known since grade school!! |
